She left the squirrels she raised to nature
Damla Atay, the Veterinarian of the Metropolitan Municipality Zoo and Natural Life Park, who took care of 2 squirrel cubs after the tree with their nests fell in the storm in the city in March, released them into the nature with his own hands.
Explaining that he has been taking care of the puppies all day since that day, Atay said, “I brought them to my house for 2 months.
Since they were puppies, full day care was required. I bottle-fed 5 meals a day and raised her like a baby. I named them ‘Hazelnut’ and ‘Pistachio’ because they love hazelnuts and pistachios. They are now 3 months old and grown.
They can now feed themselves. I released them today. “I will hope they start their own families and make offspring,” he said.
Damla Atay, who put the puppies on one of the trees in the park and shed tears while watching them climb, said, “When they came to me, their eyes had not even been opened yet.
They came and went to my house because they were so small. They can now feed on hazelnuts, peanuts, walnuts and seeds. They are mobile and able to live in nature.”
